Due to the continued winter storm, all Monticello schools will start at 10:00 am for Monday, January 8. All buses will be delayed two hours from their regularly scheduled time. There will be no breakfast being served but lunch will be served. Please check the district website often for possible updates. As always parents should take safety into consideration when deciding on student attendance decisions. Thank you for your patience.

Monday and Tuesday this week will be Career Days. Monday will be dress up like what you want to be when you grow up. And Tuesday is Touch a Truck. The city and other volunteers are bringing vehicles to the school parking lot and speaking to students about their jobs. Wednesday - Friday there will be no school in observance of Thanksgiving Break.

The next PTA fun run will be tomorrow November 4th and will start at 11 am in front of MES. Come a little early to get signed up and get your bracelets. There is no cost for participating this run. See you there!
On Halloween day the City Offices are doing a Harry Potter themed walkthrough. The entire school will be walking to the city office to see the event. Please ensure that your child has a coat and shoes they can walk in for the day. Students may wear their costumes to school. If you would not like your child to participate, please inform your child's classroom teacher and we will make alternate arrangements for that time. Thank you and Happy Halloween!
Tomorrow marks the beginning of Red Ribbon Week. There will be a dress up day each day this week. Tomorrow is wear red and Tuesday is wear a costume. Please do not forget to send your child with a coat, preferably with their name written inside. It has become very chilly in the past couple of days and we go out for recess every day.
Harvest Festival Costume Parade starts at 11. Come and Support the Monticello PTA. Harvest Festival at the City Ballfield park from 1130 to 130. See you there!

The following google doc has the coats that have been left at the school’s lost and found. If you recognize any of them please pick them up before Friday. I went through the pile today and removed any of the coats that had names on them. We only have so much room for lost and found. MES and MHS have open School Community Council positions for the 2023-2024 school year. Are you interested or do know a parent that would like to serve on our School Community Council? Tomorrow night, August 23rd, will be Back to School Night at Monticello Elementary. Starting at 6:00 pm we will meet in the gym for a short introduction. After the introductions, parents will have the opportunity to visit their child’s teacher(s).
